We provide specialist cardiac care and services.

A referral from a General Practitioner or Medical Specialist is required to attend Ballarat Heart Centre. This referral will provide important background information about your health and particular heart issues that need specialist cardiology advice.

You may be referred for a consultation with the cardiologist, or directly for a diagnostic procedure which can be performed onsite at the practice.

There are number of heart conditions that may require specialist cardiology care, some of which include:

General heart disease

This covers any condition affecting the heart, some of which are preventable.

This category includes disease of:

  • Coronary artery

    affects your blood vessels

  • Heart valve

    one or more of the valves in your heart are not working properly

  • Heart arrhythmias

    heart rhythm problems causing the heart to beat too fast, too slow, or irregularly

  • Congenital heart

    heart defects you are born with

  • Heart muscle

    enlarged heart due to weakening of the heart muscle

Heart failure

Occurs when your heart muscle doesn’t pump blood as well as it should.

Ischaemic heart disease

Caused by reduced blood flow to the heart.
